Японский телеканал TV Asahi подвёл итоги голосования, в котором 50 тыс. зрителей выбирали лучшую консольную игру в истории. По результатам опроса был составлен рейтинг из сотни проектов, набравших больше всего баллов.

Ещё восемь раз в топ-100 встречаются проекты про Марио (включая Mario Kart), пять упоминаний в рейтинге у The Legend of Zelda и по четыре — у Animal Crossing, Monster Hunter и Persona (Shin Megami Tensei в перечень не попали).

Что касается победителя голосования, то японские геймеры признали лучшей консольной игрой в истории приключенческий экшен в открытом мире The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild от Nintendo.

Компанию Breath of the Wild на виртуальном пьедестале почёта составили культовая японская ролевая игра Dragon Quest V: Hand of the Heavenly Bride (1992) и оригинальная Final Fantasy VII (1997).
